Lake Thun has vineyards. Small ones, on steep terraces, invisible from the road and perfectly clear from the water. In one evening we pass all four of them and taste what each one makes, with a cheese chosen for it, and the vines in sight while you drink.

Spiezer Jubilé
Extra-brut sparklingPinot Noir, four years on the lees, with a Swiss double-cream cheese.
Merliger Solaris
WhiteA single tiny parcel above the village, one wine, a few hundred bottles. Served with local Mutschli, looking straight at the vines it came from.
Hilterfinger Regent Rosé
RoséOff the terraces above the rooftops, with young goat's cheese.

Château & Cellar Edition
We tie up at Spiez and walk into the castle cellar for a private tasting with the winemakers: four wines, an hour underground, then back on board for the slow run home. Four and a half hours, booked ahead, price on request.

Timing
Three hours, at the hour that suits your date. Late afternoon into the evening shows the terraces at their best.
Group size
One to eight guests, your party only. Larger groups are quoted individually.
Not drinking?
Water and premium soft drinks are included for everyone, and the cheese board is served to the whole table.

These are small producers. Vintages and cheeses change with the season and what each vineyard has bottled.
Weather
The cruise runs in rain or cloud under a full soft-top cover. Storm warnings or unsafe conditions mean a full refund.
